Where it All Started

These are the first pictures from when this all started. This is the first sap from the maple tree in the front of our yard. While this tree was the first to give its sap, it gave the least of all of the maple trees. This second picture is of the largest maple on the side of our house. It gave far and away the most sap of all of the trees, sometimes giving up to 20 gallons of sap in a week.

Did you know? Sap only flows during the spring when temperatures are below freezing during the night (to draw water up from the ground into the roots) and above freezing during the day (when the tree brings the sap up the tree).
